Residential Foundation Works
Technical delivery of pile-cap and ground-beam foundation works on Ondo Street, Banana Island, covering setting-out, excavation, reinforcement, formwork, concrete operations and pre-pour quality control.
Getting concealed structural work right the first time.
The project focused on pile caps and ground beams forming the base for a residential superstructure. Most critical work would become inaccessible after concrete and backfilling, making accurate setting-out, reinforcement preparation and pre-pour inspection essential.
Site Manager
I coordinated setting-out, excavation, reinforcement, formwork and concrete operations. My responsibilities included interpreting structural details, organising labour and materials, maintaining site readiness and ensuring that checks were completed before each element was concealed.
Key workstreams.
Controlling levels, reinforcement and structural interfaces.
Pile-cap and ground-beam details were translated into accurate site positions, dimensions and reinforcement arrangements. Checks covered levels, bar placement, laps, cover and the relationship between connected foundation elements before concrete placement.
Preparing every pour before concrete arrived.
Excavation, reinforcement fixing, formwork and inspections were sequenced around pour readiness. Labour, access and material requirements were coordinated in advance to reduce delays once concrete operations began.
Inspecting critical work before concealment.
Foundation dimensions, reinforcement and formwork were checked while corrections were still practical. This disciplined pre-pour control protected the structural integrity of the work and created a reliable base for the superstructure.

Strong foundation delivery is built on accuracy, preparation and disciplined checking before concrete makes decisions permanent.
